Alaska remained the fourth largest state producer of crude oil in , and the nation’s largest oil-producing county is Alaska’s North Slope Borough.v Geology and history The North Slope Borough is the country’s largest organized local jurisdiction, spanning more t miles north of .   A look at the fundamentals involved in trading Crude oil. While millions of barrels of crude oil are bought and sold each day, consumers and producers hedge.

A major source of such oily water is the ballast dis- charged prior to loading of crude oil. This book contains papers presented at a semi- nar organized by the Institute of Offshore Engineering, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland, in collaboration with the UK Department of the Environment, to consider the potential environmental risk. The North American crude oil and natural gas resource and supply system is a complex network that includes several major components: (1) the natural endowments or physical store of oil and/or natural gas in the subsurface; (2) the commercial quantities.

Density usually refers to how much a crude oil yields in terms of products, such as heating oil and jet fuel. For instance, a crude oil with lower density, known as a light crude, tends to yield higher levels of products. On the other hand, a crude oil with high density, commonly referred to as a heavy crude, has lower product yields.. Sulfur content is another key determinant of crude oil. Another major concern revolves around the equitable sharing of oil and gas revenues with North Slope communities. The North Slope Borough has twice had to take litigation to the state’s Supreme Court to protect its rights to collect its share of tax on oil and gas properties in the face of interpretations of a tax cap provision in state.

Crude oil blends by API gravity and by sulfur content. Abstract. The National Transportation Fuels Model was used to simulate a hypothetical increase in North Slope of Alaska crude oil production. The results show that the magnitude of production utilized depends in part on the ability of crude oil and refined products infrastructure in the contiguous United States to absorb and adjust to the additional supply.

North Slope Heavy oil is a residual. formed from light oil that has lost the small (light) molecules leaving the heavy ones. These form hydrocarbon compounds characterized by long, complex molecules. Most of the hydrogen is in the light ends so heavy oil is depleted in hydrogen.

The long molecules of heavy oil impart high internal friction. Prior to Decembercrude oil exports were restricted to: (1) crude oil derived from fields under the State waters of Cook Inlet of Alaska; (2) Alaskan North Slope crude oil; (3) certain domestically produced crude oil destined for Canada; (4) shipments to U.S.

territories; and (5) California crude oil to Pacific Rim countries. A crude oil inventory draw of million barrels sent oil prices higher today, with the Energy Information Administration also reporting a fall in gasoline inventories and a modest.

Natural gas and crude oil benchmark prices are driven by global supply and demand and the price of crude oil is driven largely by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC; ) (see economics discussion in Chapter 2).

Unlike the US, foreign producers rarely encounter the delays and cost increases inherent in regulation. Crude Oil Profiles TABLE OF CONTENTS Crude Oil Profiles — A View of the Market Through Each GradeE1 Major Crudes by Gravity, Sulfur and Volume.

In this book, you’ll learn how the crude oil market works and how crude oil differs from other commodities. You’ll learn about the key factors that drive the price of crude oil.
